7 - Update on Harry - The Next Chaper

Following a long journey of battling cancer, this is a record of updates on Harry’s final leg of the journey and God’s faithfulness throughout!

History:

October 2014 – Squamous Cell Carcinoma on jaw – Dr. Brent Ward, U of M, removed Harry’s left jaw from chin to ear and built a new jaw from his fibula, vessels, veins, skin, etc. Incredible surgery; miraculous healing. God was everywhere in this entire process.

July 2016 – Glioblastoma in right frontal lobe of brain – Dr. Saeger, U of M, removed the tumor. Recovery was slower and not complete, but God was with us every step of the way!

July 2017 – Reported below:

Update - 07.10.17

We're back!  It has been quite a while since I've sent an update on Harry, but I thought you would want to know the latest.

I am sitting by his bedside at U of M Hospital in Ann Arbor as I type this.  He was taken to ER in Midland yesterday (Sunday, 7/9) around 1:30 a.m. after a couple spells of vomiting and struggling to speak.  They did a CT Scan and discovered a large area of blood in the left frontal lobe of the brain, which is the communication center (speech and comprehension).  They refer to it as a Hemorrhagic Stroke.  He was then flown to U of M Emergency Room.  He is now in Neurosurgery ICU, but will be transferred to the Stroke Area this evening.

We have been told he will be here a week or so, then on to rehab.  The road to recovery will be long; however, our gracious LORD has proven Himself to be faithful throughout this long journey, and we trust Him for a complete recovery if it is His will.

While he has unresponsive for most of the time, we celebrated a few small signs of improvement this morning when he looked at us, attempted to follow commands, and nodded.  But the highlight was when I asked, "Do you still love me?", and he uttered something that I am sure was "yah!" (God is so good!)

We ask for your continued prayers...they have carried us over the past three years!  I'll keep you informed as best I can.  The hospital stay is always very busy with all the different disciplines checking him throughout the day.  The update lets me share the info with a very large number of people who care, and I appreciate you allowing me to use this media.

I'll be in touch when I can.

Blessings abound,

Carol
