Bits of Joy...and Other Blessings! 11 - Update on Harry - The Journey's End Update 072217 –
Waiting
has never been easy for me; however, this is probably the most challenging.
Harry is
now is Palliative Care at U of M - a unit within the hospital that offers
special care to patients during the last leg of their life journey.
There
are only two bedrooms in this area of the hospital; they were formerly
maternity rooms. They are very spacious and geared for the patient and
his/her family. The staff has been great!
Harry has
had quite a swing in his condition. One moment he is sleeping and does not
respond to anyone, and the very next moment we might experience something like
Thursday morning... Lutheran Chaplain, Julie Nielsen-Schmidt, came in to pray
with us (she comes in at least once a day - what a gift!). When she asked Jesus
to receive Harry unto Himself, Harry opened his eyes wide
and got a huge smile - the biggest I've seen in years! When we recited the
creed, Harry moved his tongue as if he was reciting it as well; and,
he probably was as he knows it by heart.
We
now have total peace that Harry is ready to meet Jesus. What a
gift for us! We are much more comfortable releasing him; knowing we will
see him again.
We
ask for your continued prayers for...
· Harry's peaceful passage
· Continued peace and comfort for
our family...and each of you!
· God's guidance for each step of
this leg of the journey
· Grateful hearts for God's
provision for all of the above
· God to be glorified in this
process
Blessings
abound!
Carol
The Lord Is My Shepherd - A Psalm of David.
"23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall
not want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. 3 He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of
death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of
my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all
the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of
the Lord forever."
